Chapter Four: Of Creation

The Westminister Confession of Faith in Plain Language
1. In order to display his glory, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit made all things in the physical and spiritual realms out of nothing in six days, and he made them good.

2. The last creatures that he made were human beings—a man and a woman. He made them with souls that could not die and gave them knowledge and the ability to reason. They were righteous and holy just like God. In fact, he made them to reflect himself in many different ways. He built into their hearts a clear knowledge of right and wrong, and he gave them the strength to do what was right. But, he also left them with the ability to do what was wrong if they wanted to. They knew what was right in their hearts, and he also stated the clear command to never eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they obeyed this command, they enjoyed wonderful fellowship with God and were privileged to rule over everything else that God created.
